Angel Cotray is a multidisciplinary artist and native New Yorker from the Lower East Side. She first learned the fundamentals of oil painting while studying fine art and in psychology. Her painting method was born as a means to cope with the solidarity and isolation of quarantine. Since then, Cotray has further developed her practice utilizing a diverse range of materials/ processes.

Influenced by various painting styles of the past such as impressionism, expressionism, and surrealism, her figurations have evolved to somber yet colorful subjects in the midst of a Self Awakening. Sharing her most intimate present-based thoughts through visual storytelling, the work by its own nature is therapeutic.
